Upload Any Font in Vagaro MySite!

Updated September 29, 2025

We’ve all heard the saying: Your smile is the first thing people notice about you! Whether that’s true or not, one thing’s for sure; the first thing people notice about your brand is your font. It’s the visual voice of your business, setting the tone for how customers perceive you before they’ve read a single word. Sleek and modern. Playful and creative. Elegant and refined. Your font communicates it all instantly.

And while many business owners spend hours perfecting their logo or choosing a color palette, font choice often becomes an afterthought. When that happens, you’re left with a brand that doesn’t feel cohesive, messaging that doesn’t land, and a website that just doesn’t look as professional as it could.

The good news is that choosing fonts doesn’t have to be overwhelming—and thanks to Vagaro MySite—you can even upload your own custom typefaces to create a truly one-of-a-kind look.

But before you start experimenting, it’s worth learning a few ground rules. To help, Vagaro’s in-house design team, Studio180, shared their best tips on how to pair fonts like a pro.

Studio180’s Font Pairing Dos and Don’ts

Choosing the right fonts is one of the most impactful decisions you can make for your brand, but it’s also one of the easiest places skip over. These expert do’s and don’ts from Studio180 help you make smart choices when building your website or brand materials, especially now that you can upload your own fonts directly into MySite.

DO: Use contrast to your advantage. Fonts are all about balance. Pairing two different styles— like an elegant script for headlines with a clean sans serif for body text— creates visual interest and hierarchy without overwhelming the eye. The contrast makes your design feel intentional and polished.

DON’T: Pair fonts that compete with each other. Two display or novelty fonts side by side often clash and create “visual noise.” The same goes for pairing two scripts; they’ll fight for attention instead of complementing each other. Let one font be the star and the other support it.

DO: Play with weight, not just style. You don’t need five different fonts to make your site feel dynamic. Using multiple weights within the same font family (like Montserrat Bold for headlines and Montserrat Light for body copy) adds variety while keeping your design cohesive.

DON’T: Keep all font sizes the same. Visual hierarchy is key. Headlines, subheadings, and body copy should all feel distinct. Otherwise, your message can get lost. Adjust sizing and weight to guide the reader’s eye through your content.

DO: Prioritize readability. A bold or decorative font can make a strong first impression, but readability should always come first, especially in longer sections of text. Choose something legible for your main content and reserve more artistic fonts for headlines or accents.

Examples of Good Font Pairings

  • Playfair Display + Montserrat: A classic mix of elegance and modern simplicity.

  • Lora + Open Sans: Warm, approachable serif paired with highly readable sans serif.

  • Raleway + Roboto: Sleek and contemporary, ideal for minimalist brands.

  • Great Vibes + Poppins: A hint of luxury with a clean, structured balance.

  • Bebas Neue + Lato: Bold, attention-grabbing headlines with professional body text.

DON’T: Use hard-to-read fonts everywhere. Pairing two overly decorative fonts, or using a script font in all caps, can tank readability. And no matter how gorgeous a font looks, if your audience can’t read it easily, it’s not doing its job.

DO: Think beyond your website. A font that looks perfect on your site might not translate well to business cards, signage, or social media graphics. Choose a pair that’s versatile across all platforms, that way, you can maintain brand consistency without juggling too many typefaces.

DON’T: Choose fonts just because they’re trendy. Trends fade quickly, but your brand identity should be built to last. A timeless, well-paired font combination will serve you better in the long run.

DO: Be intentional and flexible. You don’t have to match your logo font exactly. If it’s a highly stylized display font, consider using a complementary typeface that echoes its personality while remaining practical for everyday use. And remember to adjust font sizes for decorative fonts, defaults often won’t do them justice!

With Vagaro MySite, you’re no longer limited to built-in font options, you can upload your own brand fonts for a fully custom look. Let’s take a quick look at how it works:
